Meet Joseph Yang, DMD, MD

Joseph Yang, DMD, MD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Mynsberge, Ruggles & Yang Oral Surgery. As part of a trusted team serving Greenbrae and Marin County, Dr. Yang is committed to delivering precise, compassionate surgical care that puts patients first.

Together with Drs. Mynsberge and Ruggles, Dr. Yang continues a longstanding tradition of providing excellence in oral surgery while ensuring every patient receives a safe, comfortable, and positive experience.

Dr. Yang’s education and surgical background are among the most comprehensive in the specialty, combining dental, medical, surgical, and ethical training.

Dr. Yang is also passionate about patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration with referring doctors.

Dr. Yang was born in Alaska and raised across the West Coast, spending his early years in California, Oregon, and Washington. It was in Bellevue, WA, where he met his future wife, Dr. Rachel Yang, in high school — he was the band member, and she was the cheerleader.

The two continued their education on the East Coast, with Dr. Yang attending Tufts University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Philosophy. His academic journey took him to the University of Pennsylvania for dental school, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Bioethics and graduated in the top 10 of his class. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Yang then returned to California for medical school and oral surgery residency at UCSF, completing extensive training in general surgery and anesthesia. After residency, he successfully earned board certification from ABOMS.

Today, Dr. Yang lives in the Bay Area with his wife Dr. Rachel Yang, a breast cancer surgeon and breastfeeding medicine specialist. Together, they are raising their family and enjoying life in the vibrant Bay Area. Outside the office, Dr. Yang enjoys food, music, and travel.
